Committees

The GMVA has the following committees. Each committee will have a chairman and at least one other member. They will report to the Board as necessary with the status of their activity.

3R Bazaar
Coordinates volunteers for 3R day. Collects batteries or other materials at market, delivers to designed site for weigh in .

Adopt a Path
Cleans up a specific section of path in coordination with Environmental Services..Gets gloves and bags from them.

Aging in Place

Aging in Place The Woodlands helps integrate services provided in a community with other activities such as vetting and contracting service people, assisting with transportation, wellness programs, social activities and those nagging problems like that appraisal notice.

Article for Community Magazine
Prepares article to inform community. Must be submitted six weeks in advance. Info should come from newsletters

Christmas Lighting
Coordinate decoration of Village signs, buys new decorations as necessary, coordinates with installer.

Community Contributor Award
Recognize member of community for service

Communications

Develop new ideas to make the web site, Facebook page, and newsletter more attractive to the community. Work with web master to improve, design increase readership. Reach out to merchants and real estate agents. Writes the monthly article for the community magazine, Arranges for other insertions in newspapers, publicity.

Earth Day Green-Up
Coordinate volunteers, assign to areas, report to Township liaison.

The Woodlands Farmer's Market

Volunteer at the Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market some Saturdays. Work with the Market Coordinator to improve the market.

Finance/Audit Committee
Reviews GMVA financial reports to determine if accurate and contains supporting information, if reconcile with bank records and appropriately accounted for.

GM Shopping Center Liaison
Meets with businesses in GM shopping center

Law Enforcement Advisory Council Liaison
Meet with Township Dir. of Law Enforcemnt. Advises Board of changes and trends particularly in GM

National Night Out
Coordinate Village activity

Parks & Recreation Advisory Council Liaison
Meets w/P&R dept & other villages to review & recommend projects. Should be familiar with GM parks and how they compare

Review of Bylaws
In even numbered years: Review and update information

Scholarship

Design scholarship program, recommend amount to be given, coordinate with schools and publicize. Announce awards. Contact prior recipients to encourage them to participate in money raising activities.

School Liaison (Sep-May)

Meet with the principals of the schools periodically to determine their needs, see how we can work together to support community, Promote use of website.

Sunshine

Coordinates communication and/or support for the GMVA when a member needs help.

Yard-of-the-Month (Apr-Aug)

Establishes standards for award, arranges for signs, picks winners, advises winner, determines from where award is desired and handles take pictures for website.
