TxDOT Met with Glen Mill Residents about the Proposed Noise Wall ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On October 17, Dr. Stan Cooper, environmental engineer for
TxDOT met with about 70 residents of Glen Mill at Lamar Elementary
School. After explaining the proposed wall and its proposed
location, which would now be inside the property line of the
home owners, he asked the residents on whose property the
wall would be built to provide him with their vote on whether
they wanted the wall or not. A majority of residents appeared
to want the wall but there were at least four who did not.
Since the wall will not be built on the property of the residents who do not want the wall, TxDOT will do an evaluation to see who wants the wall and whether it is still economically efficient. Residents of Glen Mill who want more information or ballots should contact Jim Upham, who is the GMVA's noise wall coordinator. His email address is jupham@houst on.rr.com. The GMVA Web site contains all the press reports on the meeting. |

Election Information for Local Races and Sample Ballot ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On our Web site we have started collecting
information you need for the current election. We
have focused on the local races where there is less
information generally available. In particular,
we have information on the North Harris Montgomery
County College District candidates and issues.
We offered all candidates the opportunity to share information about them and their campaign and have received it from some. We have collected the newspaper articles on the races (click on the position number). You are being asked to vote on a $249 million dollar bond issue and three board of trustee positions. Links at our site will take you to anything you want to know. |

Montgomery College Sets up Focus Group to Work with Grogan's Mill Village Shopping Center ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eleven students, with Tim Steinke as project
manager, have started working on marketing plans to
help revitalize the GM shopping center. They have
divided into three groups that will look at
marketing/business plans, do consumer research (if
you get a call or an email please respond), and
community relations.
The students are working under the guidance of Dick Sharman, a professor at the college, who is also a GM resident. |
