Farmer's
Market is Open 8am to Noon This Saturday
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The
Farmer's Market, has been a success so
far in terms of making happy customers and in bringing
people into the GM shopping center for the
first time. The growing season is now at
its peak. Items being offered now include tomatoes
(nothing to worry about with these), fresh peas, corn,
peaches, fresh organic chickens and beef.
The market runs every Saturday morning until
June 28th at the Grogan's Mill shopping center
from 8AM until noon.
The Grogan's Mill center is located at the
intersection of Grogan's Mill Road and South
Millbend. It has ample, free parking next
to the vendors. Come and see it, you will be glad
you did.
Please see our Web
site for a list of vendors, their business
cards, and what they plan to sell.
The Farmer's Market is being sponsored by the
GMVA to provide increased exposure to all of the great
merchants and services at the Grogan's Mill Village
Center. The GMV Center's location provides
easy access in and out along with abundant parking.
Residents can experience the convenience of shopping
and dining in The Woodlands without any parking or
traffic hassles.
| Shred
Your Sensitive Documents
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have a new vendor that started at the Farmer's
Market last Saturday: On-Site
Shred. It is a mobile document destruction
company, that will be placing a truck in the Grogan's
Mill shopping center from 9 am until 12 pm. Individuals
can bring up to five boxes of documents to be destroyed.
The price per box is $7.00 for a standard file box and
$10.00 for a Banker's box. No need to
remove paper clips, binder clips, staples, or rubber
bands. Individuals are asked to remove documents
from three ring binders and remove any plastic.
All the shredding is done on-site allowing individuals
to witness the destruction first-hand. 100% of
the waste stream is recycled keeping The Woodlands clean
and green! After you finish with your shred, stop
by The Farmer's Market for some great produce and
specialty items, or visit the fine shops located in
the shopping center. This service is being provided
to serve the public. Businesses wishing to destroy
their documents are asked to please call On-Site Shred
at 281-292-2280 and set a time for the truck to come
to them. |

2008 Yard of the Month Chosen
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Grogan's
Mill Village Association congratulates Violet Hargrove
on winning the June 2008 Yard of the Month distinction.
She received a gift certificate to the shops at the
Grogan's Mill Village Center. Violet Hargrove's
home is located on North Red Cedar Circle and is an
inspiration to us all. While handling her job as an
accountant and watching over her grandson, Violet
does her own planning and planting, with the exception
of mowing & edging. She has lived in this Grogan's
Mill location for ten years and has built her
landscaping as she has time. Among raised beds surrounded
by red sandstone, you will find begonias, roses, lily
of the Nile, various shrubs, scheffelera and numerous
other healthy, beautiful plants. We can all find motivation
& inspiration in Ms. Hargrove's efforts. Congratulations
Violet!
TWHS Named Among Top 500 in the
Nation by Newsweek Magazine
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The
Woodlands High School (TWHS) has been recognized
by Newsweek Magazine as one of the top 500 public
high schools in the nation. Schools were ranked
according to a ratio devised by Jay Matthews who
used the number of Advanced Placement (AP) Tests,
International Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge Tests
taken by all students at a school in 2007 divided
by the number of graduating seniors. According to
Newsweek, "AP and IB participation are indicators
of a school's efforts to get students to excel
and prepare for college."
