Tamarac Dog Park Opens to a Woofing Crowd
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
More than fifty dogs showed up for the Grand Opening
of the new Tamarac Dog Park on May 2nd. It is a great
facility that was sponsored by the GMVA and is located
in the back of Tamarac Park which you can access from
North Millbend next to the Unitarian Church.
Possible Roofing Scam ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Although there are many reputable roofing companies
in our area, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office
has received reports of roofing companies providing
false information to residents. According to the sheriff's
office, these particular roofers go door to door offering
to inspect homeowners' roofs for wind damage. After
a homeowner agrees to the inspection, the roofers
come down with pictures showing apparent "wind damage".
However, when the homeowner's insurance adjuster receives
the photos, the adjuster responds that the reported
damage was not caused by wind. Instead, the damage
was caused by the roofer as a way to generate business.
Residents are urged to use caution when purchasing
any service from a company without first checking
with local references and the Better Business Bureau
before conducting repairs. In addition, residents
should never open the door to solicitors. Solicitation
is not illegal in The Woodlands, but as a resident,
you make the choice of whether to listen or buy from
a solicitor. You are encouraged to say "no thank you"
through your closed door and point to your no solicitor
sticker. Remember, it is harder to close the door
once it is opened!
If you are not yet a member of The Woodlands Watch
Program, call 281-210-3800 and ask for Neighborhood
Services.
